Basic Rub: A basic grill spice blend with a pleasant, not overly bold flavor profile
JD's BBQ Basic Dry Rub is suitable for general use with various meats, as well as classic grilled vegetable sides and one-pot dishes. The Basic rub has a subtle flavor profile, with no ingredients that are overly sweet or bitter. Like most rubs, it contains sugar, but in smaller amounts, so you can use it for regular grilling without worrying too much about the caramelized spice crust burning quickly.
Flavor Profile: Peppery, chili, slightly sweet, not too spicy
Available sizes: 100g bag or 300g spray bottle
R/span>ecommended meats: Pork, poultry, beef, as well as for vegetables and one-pot dishes (e.g., mac & cheese or bean stews)
Seasoning tips:
- We recommend the 300g shaker, which is more practical than the bag. It has a secure-sealing lid with two functions (perforated holes and fully open sides). The secure closure better preserves the aroma and provides better protection against humidity and moisture.
- Never sprinkle the rub directly from the shaker or bag onto hot food, as the rising steam can cause the seasoning to clump together. In such cases, first sprinkle the required amount into your hand or a spoon, and then onto the hot food.
- Rubbing is an important step in BBQ technique. A sufficiently thick layer of seasoning will help form a seasoning crust (bark) on the surface of the meat. Before cooking, try to apply it in as consistent a layer as possible; it should cover the meat well, but leave some space for the meat to breathe.
- Before rubbing, shake the bottle—not just in one direction, but in various directions, swirling it around—to ensure the consistency of the grain size remains even.
- BASIC RUB is also excellent for developing your own style. Use it as a base mix and add other basic spices (such as coriander, turmeric...) and experiment with different grain sizes. |
