Homemade smoked salt? Yes!
Smoked salt is all you need to season a dish, and you can make it yourself for a fraction of the store price—here’s how!
Spice up your life!
You can use homemade seasoned salts to flavor your dishes. A well-made jar of seasoned salt can add variety to your meals for a long time. Smoked salt, which is easy to make at home, is enough on its own to season a dish. You can use it not only for seasoning and marinating meats, but also for fish, vegetables, salads, soups, snacks, sandwiches, and it even pairs perfectly with drinks.

Make your own smoked salt!
Making smoked salt is easy, so it’s perfect for your own use or as a truly personal gift.
The first step is choosing the right salt. Be sure to select coarse-grained salt, as smoke can penetrate its surface more easily. Coarse-grained sea salt or Himalayan salt are perfect for this purpose.
For smoking, you’ll need a grill. Essentially, any grill that can be closed is suitable for this purpose..
You will also need smoking dust and a smoke generator.
Fill the smoke generator completely with smoking powder and place it in the grill’s firebox. Light the wood chips at one end, and you’re ready to start smoking.
Spread the salt on a cloth diaper or a perforated baking sheet and place it on the grill grate. It is important that the temperature in the grill does not exceed 70°C, otherwise the salt will start to melt.
Smoking takes at least 4 hours. If smoking on a flat tray, stir the salt every 30 minutes. Then let it cool. Store the homemade smoked salt in an airtight glass jar so it can enhance your usual flavors for a long time.
